Canoeing Taster for two, Loch Ness

Canoeing is a great, fun way to enjoy the water and this introductory session will undoubtedly leave you with a new hobby and a thirst for some more canoeing action!

Upon arrival you will meet your highly qualified instructor who will provide you with the necessary equipment. With paddle in hand you’ll be shown some of the basic paddling strokes and techniques. Following your instructors guidance, you will learn to manoeuvre your boat forwards, backwards and master basic turns. You may also cover the effect that the wind and the waves have on your boat if required. This experience is suitable for adults and children from 5 years old. Young children (under 10) will sit on an extra third seat in the canoe, so there are still two people to paddle and control the canoe.

Starting from picturesque Fort Augustus, you’ll get the chance to experience a short paddling tour along the southern shore of Loch Ness in very stable open (canadian-style) canoes. Enjoy stunning views right up the loch, explore the mouth of the River Oich and paddle past the Old Pier where steam trains used to unload their passengers onto a paddle steamer for the journey up Loch Ness to Inverness in the days before a road was carved out of the imposing north shore.

This is a fantastic experience that will enable you to view the amazing Loch Ness and Scottish scenery up close. An experience that is guaranteed to provide unforgettable memories!
