Alpaca Trek for two, South Lanarkshire

A great day out for all the family to enjoy! This exciting experience takes place in South Lanarkshire, on a family run farm where pedigree alpacas live and are bred. You’ll learn about the animals, getting to spend time with the lady and baby alpacas before heading out on a trek with the males.

The experienced staff will meet you and your group and conduct a safety talk so you know how to treat the animals and get the best out of your day. You’ll also learn about the special alpaca fleece and the shearing process – the farm sell yarn, raw fleece and fibre art so they are extremely knowledgeable. After spending time getting to know the female alpacas and babies it’s time for you to begin your trek in the surrounding forestry.

The alpacas are halter trained, with a sweet gentle nature and are very inquisitive. There are ten boys of different ages, different colours, and very different characters. You might be trekking with Netherfield’s Mr Darcy, Caspian Prince or even Dashing Darroch!

Trekking gives you the perfect opportunity to spend time with these beautiful animals whilst taking in the beautiful surrounding countryside. You will trek for almost 2 miles over rough terrain, with some steep hills so make sure you are kitted out in suitable clothing. We recommend wellies and cosy clothes!
