Welcome aboard this amazing light aircraft flying lesson from Prestwick Airport, located near Ayr. Prestwick Airport is one of Scotland’s biggest airports, with international air travel, cargo and military flights taking off and landing all day. This experience offers the thrill of actually flying a light aircraft over Scotland!

First there is a 20 minute safety briefing and familiarisation of the aircraft. You’ll be asked if there is anything you want to see specifically in the area for a fly-past, as part of your experience. On-board, your instructor will do pre-flight checks, start the plane, taxi to the runway and take off.

Once in the air, the plane will climb to around 2000 feet, at around 120mph. Once at cruising altitude you will be offered the opportunity to take the controls of the aircraft. Put it though manoeuvres such as cruising, climbing and banking, all under the safe supervision of the instructor.

You’ll get amazing panoramic views of the area including local towns, railways, the motorway and landscape as you fly past. See landmarks such as the River Clyde, Turnberry, Dundonald castle and amazing views across to Arran. The aircraft’s panoramic windows allow you to view right around the world beneath you.
