This fantastic experience is an extended 1-hour of flying in central Scotland’s only  helicopter flight simulator at Cumbernauld Airport.

Flying a helicopter is one of the most challenging forms or airmanship, balancing direction, speed and altitude with power and pitch. Using the real-world controls which have been calibrated to give an experience as close to flying the real thing, get set for the flight of your life.

At the start of your experience, you will meet your instructor who will give you a detailed explanation of the virtual flight ahead. You’ll learn the aerodynamic and power characteristics of the Robinson R66 turbine helicopter including how to use the cyclic, the collective, the pedals and the throttle.

In the simulator, you will be given 20 minute hands-on tuition on how to hover, climb, cruise and turn the aircraft. Once you’ve got the hang of helicopter flight, your instructor will then give you 40 minutes unaided flying, honing your new found skills in the pilots seat.

The simulator environment offers real-world controls and a fully immersive screen which gives a truly amazing experience. Choose your departure location from any airport or location in the world and for extra realism the instructor can introduce scenarios including other air traffic, flight routes, weather and even an engine failure at altitude!
