Silent Adventure Dancing Tour for two, Edinburgh
- Enjoy a guided one hour musical tour
- Sing, dance and cheer your way through the streets as you listen to music through your HD headset
- A fun and novel way to enjoy a walking tour around Edinburgh
A silent disco may look odd to anyone watching on but for those involved it is a musical explosion of fun and laughter! A silent disco adventure is a party where iconic music is played through personal headphones as you walk the streets of Edinburgh exploring, singing and dancing as you go. As this is a tour, you dance across the city centre enjoying the landscape and seeing the sights, while also entertaining the public.
The experience began just off the Royal Mile which is always teeming with the weird and wonderful, so tours like this are always well received by the public. After meeting our fellow adventurers, we were kitted out with stylish headphones and greeted by our friendly guide. The headphones streamed music as well as the guide’s hilarious commentary and instructions. They cancelled out the noise around us making it easy to forget our surroundings and really get into the spirit of this light-hearted, unique experience.
Our guide, James, had the group smiling, singing and swaying within minutes of starting and no one stopped until the last note of the last song. James skilfully made everyone feel at ease through a sequence of fun and simple dance moves before we set off up the High Street in ‘dad-dancing’ fashion.
On this particular day, it was cold with the occasional snow flurry but that did not dampen our fun or spirits! It only added to the excitement! As we grooved up the Royal Mile against the wind and snow, we made friends with a passing Ghost Tour with whom we shared a boogie. After that, we shot down towards the Mound serenading passing cars with classic Spice Girls numbers, followed by our slightly off-key rendition of a Whitney Houston ballad. Like a scene from La La Land, everyone burst out their cars to join us (okay, that didn’t happen) but I am sure all the drivers were contemplating it considering their willingness to interact with us and the amount of fun we were having with them.
As we shuffled into Princes Street, we parted like the Red Sea to create our very own catwalk. Taking it in turns, we strutted down the catwalk to Madonna’s ‘Vogue’, this was a great opportunity for everyone to shine and showcase their best moves. It was hard not to cheer and clap! Next stop: Scotland’s Next Top Model.
Finally, we started to conga towards Cockburn Street to finish our experience, once again introducing more of the public to our party. Regardless of whether they wanted to dance or sing with us, it was always received well and we parted with an exchange of smiles. Considering the weather, I was impressed by the number of people willing to sing in the rain (pun intended).
As we returned to our starting point, we danced away to some Abba and Queen. Those that knew the words were singing with gusto, those that did not- sang anyway! Ending in a roaring applause, it was time to head home for a well-deserved hot beverage. Come rain or shine, this tour is a great way to enjoy the more humorous side of Edinburgh.
