Glasgow Music Walking Tour for 2
- A walking tour in the UK's only UNESCO City of Music
- Led by guides with years of experience in Glasgow's music scene
- Visit famous landmarks of Glasgow's music world
On a beautiful, warm Spring day, Katie and I met our tour guides at the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall, ready to begin our ‘Music Mile’ Tour.
We started our tour within the Royal Concert Hall itself where we learned about the legends that had performed there back in the 50’s and 60’s including the likes of Louis Armstrong and Frank Sinatra!
This tour continues through all the famous and infamous landmarks of the Glasgow music venues. Katie and I are both in our twenties, so initially we were a bit worried that we would not have heard of the artists that the tour featured. However, the guides were only too happy to explain who everyone was and as we progressed the tour builds towards present day, focusing on artists we were more familiar with, making this tour suitable for all ages!
With both of our guides leading the way, we came to ‘Nice’N’Sleazy’ a small bar/ venue where we stopped for a coffee (something stronger is available if you wish!). After we had rested and rehydrated we made our way downstairs to the club area to see where the stars perform or even party themselves! This venue was a huge hit with A-Lister Scarlett Johansson when she was filming in
Glasgow.
For the final leg of our tour, we were taken to the world famous ‘King Tuts’; the place where Oasis were discovered and signed their contract in the same day! Other stars that have performed there include the likes of Paolo Nutini, The 1975, Coldplay and many many more…
One of my highlights was getting to take to the stage and be in the same shoes as some of my heroes!
These are non-microphone tours which give you the perfect opportunity to speak to one of the very knowledgeable guides, it allows for a more personalised and intimate experience as group sizes are always small. Be prepared to walk through the ages and learn about the music legends of the past 80+ years!
